Memories of my Nan

Created by Michelle 4 years ago
My Nan once had a dressing up box
A dress, a scarf, the choice was yours
Click-clacking around in her old high heels,
While she was in the kitchen making delicious meals!
These are memories of my Nan

My Nan once tried to teach me to Knit
Time and again my fingers did not fit.
I was rubbish she said- I was bloomin left-handed
I couldn't help it if I was born kack- handed!
These are memories of my Nan

My Nan once tried to teach me to make Jam
Standing on the chair so I could see above the pot.
Apple pie and custard, people round the table.
This will go down as family fable.
These are memories of my Nan

My Nan once tried to show me the garden
Shelling peas, blossom perfume, picking bluebells in the woods.
Days by the seaside, when summer was endless.
Running in the fields left us breathless
These are memories of my Nan.

My Nan tried to teach me about life and loss
Growing old is not for cissies you said!
At least you will have fireworks every year
A celebration of life, not to shed a tear.
These are memories of my Nan.

If you are up there, with Grandad in tow
I hope you are laughing, in the garden or at home
Cooking a meat pie, a dumpling or two
Or maybe a crunchie- their number one fan!
These are my memories of my Nan.
